THE PRACTICE
The Practices during this retreat are designed to (re-)connect you to your body’s wisdom. Some of the daily yoga practices will be strong and spicy, others gentle and soft and all of them creative and breath-centered. Through the vessel of our body you will open into deeper layers of yourself and work with tools such as journaling, vocal release, meditation, yoga nidra and breathwork to remember how intrinsically wild and free you really are.
Our teaching style is inspired by embodiment, the art of being in your body. On this retreat we will not only guide you through yoga practices, but also include more free flowing movement practices such as Shake the Dust and Somatic Ecstatic Dance.
THE RITUALS
During this retreat we will hold space for a variety of rituals, including a cleansing ritual, sharing circles, a somatic dance and cacao/tea ceremonies. Rituals are a way to come back home to ourselves and the present moment. The rituals during this retreat are an invitation to celebrate life, connect to the wild and remember in your body-mind-soul that you are a part of the nature around you.
THE INTENTION
Re-wild your soul is a call to return to your most authentic self, to shed the layers of social conditioning, to rediscover the free-spirited and connected being you are at your core. It is our intention to create a space to remember that we are not separate from nature but an integral part of it.
Coming home to myself, feeling my body in connection with mother nature and connecting to wonderful humans touched my soul on the deepest level. I was able to experience what it feels like to be seen, loved and held in a safe space and I am deeply thankful for this experience up to this day.
I’ve already attended several retreats with Sue, Kathi & Laila, and I wholeheartedly recommend these lovingly designed retreats, which offer so much more depth and so much more than “just” beautiful yoga classes. These powerful spaceholders manage to create spaces filled with connection and heartfelt warmth.
I’ve now had the privilege of experiencing three retreats with Kathi and Sue. They create safe spaces where you can learn a lot (about yourself). Furthermore, the days are incredibly varied and designed with attention to detail. This creates a unique atmosphere, which is only enhanced by the carefully selected locations and the delicious food.
THE FOOD
The kitchen at Shambala is the heart of the place. The food is prepared with love using the best possible, mainly organic, ingredients and combined with care to ensure nourishment throughout the retreat. Every meal is delicious, abundant, vegan, Ayurveda-inspired and gluten-free. All meals and hot drinks are provided and we will often enjoy our meals on the sunny deck overlooking the lake.
THE PLACE
Shambala Gatherings is a beautiful retreat center and yoga community in the middle of the Swedish forest. Located just two hours away from Stockholm, the area is easily accessible and makes a great option for a short break wildlife destination.
The dense forests of Bergslagen around Skinnskatteberg, are a fantastic place to encounter the very best of Sweden’s wildlife. Other than enjoying its abundant flora and lush beds of moss, the magnificent ”king of the Swedish forest”, moose – otherwise known as elk – can be seen here in its natural habitat, and the many lakes and watercourses are home to the beaver. The area has also proven to be one of the best regions in Sweden to see other wildlife such as wolves, bears, lynx and owls.
ACOMMODATION
At Shambala, beyond being a retreat space, we cultivate a way of living deeply rooted in the yogic values of simplicity, presence, non-attachment, contentment, and communion with nature. Rather than luxury, what we offer is intimacy and a sense of belonging. Therefore, our accommodations are simple and mostly shared, with a variety of twin rooms, triple rooms, and glamping tents.
The guiding ethos is one of community and sustainability, creating a vibe that is understated, modest, welcoming, and easy. If you do feel a strong need for a single room, you can write to us at shambalagatherings@gmail.com – a limited number of single rooms is available for an additional fee.

TEACHER’S BIO
KATHI ROTH
Kathi stands for empowering our soft, strong, sensual soul.
She has been a meditation student since she was 15, fell in love with yoga when she was in the beginning of her twenties and has been teaching regularly since 2019. Her teaching style of vinyasa yoga and holding space for embodiment and breathwork practices is inspired by her experience in dancing and theater, traveling the world and learning from international teachers. She has been part of international and local (women) circles for years. Holding retreats for her is the most healing and nurturing opportunity to dive deep with oneself and other humans, to share stories, to own and use our voices, to get to know our own temple and soul better and to recharge our batteries.
Sue-Ana Schröer
Sue stands for connecting to and embodying our most authentic version of self.
She started practicing yoga when she was 13 and found a way to navigate through hardship in life within the body and the breath. Sue loves to share creative vinyasa yoga practices, yin & restorative yoga as well as Shake the Dust. As she is particularly fascinated by nature and its healing effects on the body, mind and spirit, her teachings are greatly inspired by nature’s force, the elements and cycles.
Laila Binkenstein
Laila stands for true permission to be yourself with all the truths that are alive inside you simultaneously. She supports you to get to know yourself deeper from the inside out by guiding you into your soma, your body temple. In all her teachings there is space to be you, to explore you, to express you, guided with sweet softness and deep presence. Trusting the bodies wisdom and guidance is a core essence of her offerings.
Laila embarked on her yoga journey 7 years ago and went through various trainings, currently in her 300h training with Satu Tuomela. She teaches yoga, hosts retreats and circles in deep awe to the gift of connection and community.
