Yoga and horse riding melts together surprisingly well, both activities help us come closer to ourselves, to find relaxation and the strength to let go of what doesn’t serve us.

“The best thing about the retreat was the entirety: to enjoy the best things from different worlds. The soft and embracing yoga, the alert joyous horses that carried us in incredible beautiful nature, the hot sauna that waited for us as we came back and the lovely swim afterwards. Add to all of this the thoroughly cooked, nourishing and tasteful food, and amazing people that inspired to profound talks. All in all a magical weekend!”
THE HORSES
Join us for a deep nurturing retreat in the Swedish nature with yoga, meditation and horse riding!
For this special weekend we will take time to nurture our souls with the help of the most magic healers of all – horses! At Shambala we will have practises in yoga, breathing and meditation and at Töltfari we will ride out in the forest on Icelandic horses, known for their sweet, sturdy temper and fourth gait: tölt. All levels of previous horse experience are welcome; please state your level, beginner or more experienced, in your booking so that we can match you with a horse.
THE YOGA
The yoga practise is gentle hatha yoga, we warm up the body and the mind to be ready for our time in the saddle. In the afternoon/evening we cool the body down with the help of calmer yoga such as restorative and yin yoga. The yoga practise is both physical, moving the body, and spiritual – all connected through the breath.
“The retreat was a perfect combination of horse riding, yoga and lovely food. The horses were so nice and secure. An extra pleasure was a lot of gallop and the beautiful forests. Every yoga class was varied and a truly nice compliment to the riding. I really enjoyed Theresé’s yoga style and Lolo’s guidance during the horse riding. I’d like to do this again soon!”

TEACHER’S BIO
Theresé Täckenström
When teaching yoga Theresé tries to make sure that the student understands what s/he is doing, why and how. It is really important to help the student accommodate the practise to his/her needs, ability and body. The practise is supposed to be there for the student, the student should not bend over backwards to fit the mould of the practise.
Theresé has a bachelor’s degree in dance pedagogics specialising in ballet. She has been teaching dance for kids and adults since 2007, in Sweden and abroad, and loves being able to guide and share sweet moments of movement, choreography and music. Dance lead her into exploring other types of movement such as Pilates, strength training and DNS, but most of all it led her to yoga and a more holistic way to live life. She has been teaching yoga at different studios around Stockholm, corporate yoga and private groups as well as online since 2015. Each summer she is back at Shambala as one of the teachers during the yearly Yandara Yoga teacher training.
