Perhaps the teachings of yoga sometimes seem far away or even uncombinable with our modern lives? But there is so much to be found in this old system to support the modern human. Our technology has been upward forward, but as human beings, we still hit road bumps mentioned in the old yogic texts way back. We will look into this, talk about them, and use the physical practices to investigate it deeper.
During these four days, we will get a break from our everyday life, enjoy the Swedish forest, the lake, and the beautiful food and community at Shambala.
Every day the practice will have its” take-off” from the yogic perspective of a human trait or contradiction, which is probably present in our lives. Such as What is true? Aversion/Attachment, The power of thoughts, Control/Surrender, meeting resistance, our perceived energy and so on.
How can we break out of the conditioned mind and get a glimpse of freedom? Or the possibility of another reality?
These days will offer asanas, meditation, yin, pranayama, writing as well as talks to understand the human psyche and what makes up our reality. The practices will be there to serve as tools to go beyond the mind and to still the nervous system. Conversations will be shared in the group. There will also be time for sauna, free time and forrest walks and if we are lucky we might enjoy a Kirtan (singing evening) one night.
The hope is you will leave with your body worked through and well-rested, your intellect infused, and your mind still. Hopefully, the days’ practices have given you a clearer direction on creating and maintaining your own home practice. If not, Hanna can support you with that.

THE FOOD
Inspired by the Indian Ayurvedic health tradition, our kitchen serves delicious and nutritious food that is vegan, gluten-free, and made primarily with organic ingredients. Meals are often enjoyed on the sunny deck overlooking the lake. We are happy to accommodate dietary allergies—please inform us when making your booking.

Shambala is an intimate yoga community and retreat center nestled in the forests of Bergslagen, two hours from Stockholm in Skinnskatteberg, Västmanland.
Dedicated to community and yoga, Shambala’s vision is to live harmoniously with nature. Surrounded by lush forests and a tranquil lake, it invites you to enjoy peaceful walks, refreshing swims, and moments of reflection. A highlight is the floating sauna by the lake, offering a soothing experience.
Accommodations are cozy and simple, with options to share a room, enjoy a private single room (when available), or try glamping, with rooms allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

HANNA
Hanna has been practicing yoga since the ’90s and is the owner of Little Peace Yoga, awarded Swedens best yoga studio. She is an E-RYT with over 1.000 hours at Yoga Alliance and has many different Teacher Trainings and workshops. She is appreciated for her ability to make the yogic philosophy accessible to people today. She moves freely between dynamic asana practices to Satsang, yin, meditation and chanting depending on what serves the purpose.
She is teaching at Little Peace Yoga, is an appreciated guest teacher at several yoga conferences and teacher trainings and is hosting at the podcast” Little Peace Talk”.

Located just two hours away from Stockholm in Skinnskatteberg, Sweden, the area is easily accessible by air, train and car, making a great option for a short break wildlife destination.
- Coming by air: The nearest airport to Shambala is Stockholm Vasteras. The second nearest airport is Arlanda airport, the main airport in Sweden. You can easily take a train all the way to Skinnskatteberg from both of them.
- Coming by train / bus: We are fortunate to have a train / bus station at Skinnskatteberg only 5 minutes ride from the center. We offer free pick up services from this station in summer.
