Shambala is located in Skinnskatteberg, central Sweden, about 2,5 hours northwest of Stockholm.
Fly into Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) or Stockholm Vasteras (VST). Both airports connect to Skinnskatteberg by train.
Take SJ train to Skinnskatteberg station, just 5 minutes from Shambala. Book at sj.se and notify us 48 hours ahead.
Free pickup service between 3-6 PM for retreat arrivals. Driving? Navigate to Borntorpet 1, parking available on-site.
Arrive to warm tea, your room, and the sounds of the Swedish forest. First meal is dinner, check-in and check-out at 15:00.

More than 3 months before: full refund. 14 days before: 70% refund. 6 days before: 50% refund. 5 or fewer days: no refund. We recommend travel insurance for peace of mind.
We offer shared rooms (gender-based pairing), SoulPad glamping tents, dorm beds, or bring-your-own-tent options. Single rooms are available upon request for an additional fee.
Children aged 12+ are welcome and receive a 30% discount when participating. Under 12: ages 0-6 are free, ages 7-12 are 335 SEK/night, ages 13-18 are 520 SEK/night. Please contact us to arrange.
All meals are plant-based, organic, and inspired by Ayurvedic and Scandinavian seasonal cooking. Three meals daily: silent breakfast, abundant lunch, candlelit dinner. We accommodate all dietary needs with care.
Breakfast is eaten in silence, and dormitory quiet hours begin at 22:00. Beyond that, retreats vary: some include extended periods of noble silence, while others are more social. Check your specific retreat details.
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted indoors due to guest allergies. If you need to bring an animal, please contact us in advance to discuss options.
Yes! Massage, bodywork, and other treatments are available during retreats. Navigate to our treatment page to book; slots fill up quickly, so we recommend booking early.
Comfortable clothes for yoga and outdoor activities, warm layers (especially Spring/Autumn), swimwear for the lake and sauna, a towel, a water bottle, eye sleeping mask and ear plus if you have sensitive sleep. Yoga mats and props are provided.
WiFi is available in the main house but we encourage a digital detox during your stay. Many guests find that disconnecting from screens is one of the most valuable parts of the retreat experience. Please note that being in the forest means that WiFi can be unreliable at times.
Most of our retreats welcome all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Check the individual retreat description for specific prerequisites. Teacher trainings require prior experience.
Absolutely! The majority of our guests come solo. Retreats are designed to foster connection, and you’ll quickly feel part of the community. It’s one of the best ways to experience Shambala.
