JANUARY 28–31, 2027
Root & Rest with Studio Munay
An invitation to slow down with the rhythm of winter. Nourish your body, breathe, move, rest and reconnect with yourself, nature and others. A few days to step away from doing and into simply being. Retreat and create space to listen to your body, your desires and what you long to bring into the year ahead.
A RETREAT FOR YOU
The Spirit of the Retreat
Root & Rest is an invitation to slow down and reconnect with the natural rhythm of winter. Over three nights at Shambala Gatherings, surrounded by forest, stillness and the elements, we create space to move, breathe, rest, explore and simply be. Through yoga, meditation, breathwork, reflection and time in nature, we’ll explore what happens when we step away from constant doing and listen more closely to the body and what we truly need.
There will be nourishing food, sauna, shared moments, quiet moments and plenty of space to follow your own rhythm.
As we have entered a new year, we’ll gently turn inward and listen for what is calling us forward. What we long for, what we want to nurture and what we want to make more room for. Come as you are, with nothing to prove and nothing to become.
Who is this retreat for?
This retreat is for you, if you long to feel more connected to yourself, your body, nature and others around you. If you are curious about life and about what becomes possible when there is space to slow down, listen and simply be.
As a winter retreat, we are inspired by the natural world around us. Winter is a time when nature slows down, turns inward and rests, and we can allow ourselves to do the same. To step out of the constant doing and give yourself permission to simply be, without having to perform, achieve or become anything.
Perhaps you are longing for inspiration, deeper presence, stillness or a sense of coming home to yourself. Perhaps you want to move, breathe, rest, explore, be in nature, share meaningful conversations and enjoy good food. Or perhaps you simply feel a pull towards something you cannot quite put into words.
You may arrive carrying your stories, questions, dreams, curiosity and whatever season of life you are currently in. You don’t need to have everything figured out. You can simply arrive with an openness to explore, connect and be surprised by what unfolds.
This is an invitation to nourish yourself, body, mind and soul, and to create space to listen to what is calling you in the year ahead.
What do you long for? What wants to grow? What do you want to make more room for?
You are not coming here to become a better version of yourself. You are coming to experience more of who you already are.
At the heart of it, this retreat is for you if you long for more space to feel alive, connected and at home in yourself.
We hope you leave with a felt sense that you don’t have to perform to be worthy of rest, pleasure, connection or simply being alive.
Sponsorship
We know that not everyone can afford the full retreat price, and we want to make this experience as accessible as possible. That’s why we’re offering one reduced-rate spot for someone who feels called to join but would otherwise be unable to.
If this speaks to you, please email us at hello@shambalagatherings.com, share a little about yourself, and you’ll be considered for this spot.

YOUR GUIDE
Nathalie Maria
Nathalie is a yoga teacher, stress educator and founder of Studio Munay in Stockholm, a space created around the belief that the whole human experience deserves room.
Her teachings draw from yoga, meditation, breathwork, stress management, the elements and the cyclical nature of the earth. She is deeply inspired by the changing seasons and the invitation they offer us to move, rest, reflect and renew in different ways.
She believes that practice is not about becoming someone else, but about becoming more at home in the body and creating more freedom to be exactly who we are.
Nathalies classes invite exploration rather than performance, with space for both depth and playfulness. Her intention is to create a warm and inclusive environment where you can slow down, reconnect and discover your own way of moving, breathing and being.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to Shambala?
The journey from Arlanda to Shambala (Skinnskatteberg Station) takes around 3 hours and is quite straightforward. You can search for and purchase tickets at www.sj.se.
Please note that the full train schedule is usually available only 2–3 weeks before your intended travel date, so there’s no need to book earlier than that. There are several route options.
As there are no direct trains, you’ll need to take a combination of trains and/or buses. Once you arrive at Skinnskatteberg Station, we’ll pick you up — it’s just a 7-minute drive to Shambala.
What should I bring?
Comfortable yoga clothing, a warm layer for the evenings, earplugs and an eye mask for the bright summer mornings, sturdy shoes for forest walks, and a journal if you enjoy writing. Yoga mats and props are provided. Swimwear for the sauna is optional. We’ll send a full packing list after booking.
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
Our kitchen is designed to avoid the most common allergens. That said, please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies or specific dietary needs, and we’ll take them into account when planning the menu.
For guests with multiple allergies, we offer a simple daily meal option of steamed vegetables and boiled rice.
While we aim to keep our kitchen as gluten-free as possible, trace amounts of gluten may still be present. Before each retreat, our kitchen is thoroughly cleaned, and no gluten-containing ingredients are brought into the kitchen during the retreat. We source almost all ingredients with gluten-free certification, including our oats, although some items such as ground spices are not specifically sourced with a gluten-free label.
Our meals are generally suitable for guests with gluten intolerance and many people with celiac disease. However, as we are not a certified gluten-free kitchen, we cannot fully guarantee the absence of cross-contamination for guests with severe sensitivity or celiac disease. If you have a high level of sensitivity, please let us know in advance so we can discuss the options available and help you find what feels safest and most comfortable for you.
What is the accommodation like?
At Shambala, beyond being a retreat space, we cultivate a way of living deeply rooted in the yogic values of simplicity, presence, non-attachment, contentment, and communion with nature. Rather than luxury, what we offer is intimacy and a sense of belonging. Therefore, our accommodations are simple and mostly shared, with a variety of twin rooms, triple rooms, and glamping tents.
The guiding ethos is one of community and sustainability, creating a vibe that is understated, modest, welcoming, and easy. If you do feel a strong need for a single room, you can write to us. A single room may be available for an additional fee.
All accommodation options have access to shared showers and bathrooms.
What is your policy on children?
We love children and would truly love to be able to host parents with young kids.
However, we’ve found that having young children on site can make it challenging to maintain the peaceful retreat atmosphere that many of our guests seek and deeply value.
For this reason, unless otherwise agreed, our retreats are intended for adults and youth aged 12 and above.
Can I bring my pet?
We love animals, but as some guests have allergies, we’re unable to allow animals inside the buildings. For this reason, we kindly discourage guests from bringing their pets.
