THE ESSENCE
Awakening to the Self means to discover who you truly are beyond the chattering of the mind, the fluctuations of the emotions and the changing sensations of the body. If we look into our nature, we can find an entity that never changes, that is always there, and that can be of great relief and support for us.
Through Meditation, Morning Silence, Yoga, Spirituality & Shadow Work, as well as Nature, Nature Walks, bathing in the lake, we slowly let go of whatever we take ourselves to be in the everyday life and we make space to see what’s really true for us and what we find.
Satsang and Self-Inquiry are group spaces, where we are coming together to explore questions around Self-Realisation, everyday life issues, spiritual quests, mondaine quests, and the questions will be answered from a deeper place, from the Self. Evelyne will share her wisdom, from being with Satsang teachers for many years herself, as well as from her own experience within Spiritual Psychotherapy, where she combines Spirituality and Shadow Work/Psychotherapy, as well as Trauma work.
This is a retreat where we will dive deep, without loosing the lightness and joy in it. The retreat is structured in a way that movement of the body, stillness, nature, diving deep, are in a good balance. In fact, Self-Discovery can be joyful, fun and empowering.
OPEN FOR SPONSORSHIPS
In light of current world events, we recognize the added strain many are experiencing, which can make access to rest and wellbeing more difficult. Therefore, this retreat is open for sponsorship applications. We’d love to support you in getting the rest you deserve, so we’ve opened up the possibility to attend this retreat at a discounted rate. If this speaks to you, please send us an email at shambalagatherings@gmail.com, sharing a little about yourself, and you’ll be considered for one of the available sponsored spots.
“Dear Evelyne,
It has been one week since the Eastern Retreat. I wanted to thank you again for this beautifull experience. Your life lessons during the satsang nights, the short book readings and theory lessons during yoga class and your warm and positive energy made the retreat so complete!
I would describe the feeling that the silence retreat gave me as ‘ peaceful, calm, and fully present ‘. It really felt like coming home to myself.
Now I am at home, and real life has started again, sometimes my ‘ mind’ takes over. But now I know how to come back to myself, and to the same feeling I had during the retreat.
I hope to see you again at a next retreat!
I wish you all the best!”
Shambala has a special place in my heart. Each time I’m there, I feel so happy to have found it and so nourished by the experience. The connections; the kindness; the honesty; the laughs. I feel like it shapes me into the best version of myself. Then there’s the food, the forest, the sauna, the lake, the time to play and just be… It’s hard to leave, but easier for me this time, as I’ll be coming back again in October. So much gratitude, so much love.
THE FOOD
The kitchen at Shambala is the heart of the place. The food is prepared with love using the best possible, mainly organic, ingredients and combined with care to ensure nourishment throughout the retreat. Every meal is delicious, abundant, vegan, Ayurveda-inspired and gluten-free. All meals and hot drinks are provided and we will often enjoy our meals on the sunny deck overlooking the lake.
THE PLACE
Shambala Gatherings is a beautiful retreat center and yoga community in the middle of the Swedish forest. Located just two hours away from Stockholm, the area is easily accessible and makes a great option for a short break wildlife destination.
The dense forests of Bergslagen around Skinnskatteberg, are a fantastic place to encounter the very best of Sweden’s wildlife. Other than enjoying its abundant flora and lush beds of moss, the magnificent ”king of the Swedish forest”, moose – otherwise known as elk – can be seen here in its natural habitat, and the many lakes and watercourses are home to the beaver. The area has also proven to be one of the best regions in Sweden to see other wildlife such as wolves, bears, lynx and owls.
ACOMMODATION
At Shambala, beyond being a retreat space, we cultivate a way of living deeply rooted in the yogic values of simplicity, presence, non-attachment, contentment, and communion with nature. Rather than luxury, what we offer is intimacy and a sense of belonging. Therefore, our accommodations are simple and mostly shared, with a variety of twin rooms, triple rooms, and glamping tents. The guiding ethos is one of community and sustainability, creating a vibe that is understated, modest, welcoming, and easy. If you do feel a strong need for a single room, you can write to us at shambalagatherings@gmail.com – a single room may available for an additional fee.

TEACHER’S BIO
Evelyne Vuilleumier
From an early age on, Evelyne was driven by the quest: What else is there between birth and death? Her pathway lead into Psychology and Gestalt Therapy. As a former athlete in Snowboarding she trained mentally with Sophrology, a Consciousness Training, which literally blew her mind about what is possible with a clear mind. She started Yoga in 1999, and teaches Vinyasa Yoga (RYS 500) since 2012. Evelyne integrates knowledge from the East, like Yoga, Taosim, Tibetan and Zen Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, and knowledge from the West, like Psychotherapy and Gestalt Therapy. She has 25 years of experience as a therapist and built up 2 holistic centers in Switzerland. She also spent many years with Satsang teachers. Her teaching style is very down to earth with a warm, understanding, yet clear, direct and humorous approach. She created her own Curriculum in Spiritual Psychotherapy, where she combines Spirituality and Shadow Work. Evelyne holds Retreats in Switzerland, Sweden, Italy and Spain.
