“This retreat will consist of morning and late afternoon Yoga sessions, a cuisine of organically home grown or locally sourced healthy vegetarian food, inspired in the Ayurvedic tradition of food preparation and plenty of time to explore the breathtaking natural surroundings. There’s a library, art studio and sauna too!”
“Deepen your practice, restore your body and mind and leave feeling rejuvenated and in harmony with yourself and nature.”
Set amidst lakes and dense forests, this is the perfect place to immerse yourself in Yoga and Mother Nature on our Winter Wonderland retreat this coming February. Forest walks are just magical at this time of year, so deeply peaceful with only the sounds of your footsteps crunching in the snow that we hope will be piled high once again. The lake is, of course, frozen over and a small hole cut into it so the very brave can immerse themselves into the icy water after stepping out of the lake side sauna. Truly exhilarating!
This simple but beautiful venue is all ours for the duration of our stay. We have the use of the large and fully equipped Yoga shala overlooking the lake and forest and we have our very own chef catering for all our Ayurvedic inspired meals which really are created with love.
The beauty of nature can have a profound effect, calming the senses and pacifying the mind. In nature, as we find in our Yoga practice, we can be present in the moment without distractions. In allowing ourselves the peaceful and extended free time of a retreat, we make space within, space for new ideas, space to remove old habits and create new. We recharge, give renewed energy to ourselves, rejuvenate and allow for optimism and change.
Your 3 night stay consists of 5 Yoga sessions, meditations, Yoga nidras, an exploratory workshop, floating saunas and incredible, healthy, nourishing food.
Fully embracing our ethos we have curated this retreat to give you the opportunity to begin or enhance your Yoga practice making way for a deeper connection to yourself and the universe, encouraged and inspired by the calming influences of natural surrounds.

“When I saw that there was a yoga retreat being offered, I jumped at the chance to attend. Jo is one of the best teachers I’ve had and her patience and guidance really helped me improve my practice and start setting new goals. Jo is extremely knowledgeable and is able to give both modifications for poses, as well as pushing you to achievements you didn’t know you were capable of!” – Guest in 2017 retreat
“I’ve just returned from Jo’s Back to Nature Yoga Retreat at Shambala in Sweden. Her yoga instruction was both supportive and inspiring, letting me reach new heights. The lakeside environment was incredible chilled and beautiful, and the food was as plentiful as it was tasty (porridge bread was INCREDIBLE). Something I’ll definitely do again!” – Guest in 2018 retreat
Jo Fox is an internationally accredited Yoga teacher who has recently relocated to London after almost a decade in Zanzibar, Tanzania, East Africa, where she ran a well known Yoga business holding group classes, kids classes and private classes.
She first sat on a Yoga mat about 20 years ago and since then, it’s been in and out of her life but in the last 12 years, most definitely in.
“The teaching and practice of Yoga has really shaped who I am today in so many ways. Two things that I hear often are “I can’t do Yoga, I’m not flexible” and “What style of Yoga do you teach?” So here’s the thing, You don’t have to be flexible to do Yoga! Yoga is about so much more than that. Of course, you will increase your flexibility but you’ll reap all sorts of other rewards too. All you need to know right now is that if you can breathe, you can practice.
As for style, that really depends on who is in the class and the ability of each person. You might be practising a posture and the person next to you may be taking a modified version or a more advanced version dependent on body type, strength, flexibility etc. So the answer to that question is that I will teach you a style that is right for you at the that point in time. I will teach you to practice “your” style.
Don’t worry if you’re starting out and it’s all a bit new. As a 4000 year old science, it’s fairly new for all of us modern day practitioners and that’s the fun part, you just keep on learning and growing.
Registered with The Royal Yoga Alliance with teacher training carried out with Maria Taylor at the Africa Yoga Centre, I have also practiced at the Sri K Phatabhi Jois Institute of Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore, India with Saraswati Jois. I’ve been leading classes for 6 years and hope to continue doing so for many more to come.”
