“The beauty of nature can have a profound effect. Calming the senses and pacifying the mind. In nature, as we find in our yoga practice, we can be present in the moment without distractions. In allowing ourselves the peaceful and extended free time of a retreat, we make space within, space for new ideas, space to remove old habits and create new. We recharge, give renewed energy to ourselves, rejuvenate and allow for optimism and change. “

“Deepen your practice, restore your body and mind and leave feeling rejuvenated and in harmony with yourself and nature.

Back to Nature return to Sweden this Summer for a 4 night retreat. This will be our 6th visit to Shambala and we just can’t get enough of its magic.

Set amidst lakes and dense forests, it’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in Yoga and Mother Nature.

Your retreat consists of

* x4 nights accommodation (based on sharing)

* All meals and we’re talking super healthy cuisine here inspired by

the Indian Ayuvedic health tradition

* x8 Yoga sessions

* x2 workshops

* Use of floating sauna

* Use of kayak

* Use of bicyles

and of course there’s all the beautiful surrounds to enjoy whether you’re lake swimming, forest walking or just chilling lake side catching a tan.

We will host you and ensure you have the best experience. Whether you’re starting on your Yoga journey or developing an existing practice, by immersing yourself with Back to Nature you will receive all the tools you require to enhance and grow, to connect with yourself on a deeper level, to make space for self enquiry and new ideas.

Yoga sessions will be led by Jo Fox and will be tailored around the needs of the group. Each person will practice at their own level and classes will range from Hatha (basic/dynamic), alignment focused vinyasa flow as well as restorative/yin sessions. Sessions will begin with pranayama/breathing techniques and end with long relaxations. There will be meditations. 2 exploratory workshops will be included again dependent on the needs of the group e.g. inversions/arm balances etc.

Let the Yoga, sunshine and the incredible natural surroundings feed and nurture your soul.

Jo Fox

Jo Fox is an internationally accredited Yoga teacher who has recently relocated to London after almost a decade in Zanzibar, Tanzania, East Africa, where she ran a well known Yoga business holding group classes, kids classes and private classes.

From Jo:

“ I first sat on a Yoga mat about 20 years ago. I enjoyed the stretches and the peace I felt within, In 2009 I decided to deepen my knowledge and understanding of Yoga by way of teacher training course although in no way did I ever contemplate I may one day teach. I was living in Zanzibar at the time and was persuaded by friends to lead a class. There were some beautiful open air chapel ruins down the road so I asked permission to use them for a one off session. I practiced the class on my flatmate at the time and lead the class to friends. Ever the marketeer, I gave each of them a questionnaire afterwards! It seemed they all really enjoyed so a weekly class bean and Zanzibar Yoga with Jo bagan.

Over the next few years, the classes grew from once a week to three in those beautiful ruins that became our Yoga space. We shared that space with ants, mosquitoes and swallows that would swoop down as we relaxed in Sivasana. A beautiful green grass snake once paid us a visit. The Yoga was so pure. Our environment so natural. We practiced in stifling heat, in rain and we learned from each other. There was not a branded outfit in sight, our mats were always dirty, there was no Instagram photography despite our incredible surroundings.

We just practiced and laughed and grew together. Visitors to the island would find us, tourists, NGO workers, GAP year students and we would welcome all to our special space.

I ran my first retreat at this space. A tiny group of guests who were eager to learn and explore in more depth just as I was. I began to run more retreats on the neighbouring islands of Chumbe and Mafia as well as some spectacular safari retreats on mainland Tanzania. For me, the practice of Yoga seemed to go hand in hand with these natural environments

After a decade in East Africa, I relocated to London where I’m currently based and where Back to Nature continues to evolve.”

“I’m still feeling the zen from a fabulous retreat with Jo and co at Shambala Gatherings in Sweden. My body felt sooooooo loved and nutured from the wonderful yoga – and the divine food and the glorious setting added to the bliss. It was such a lovely group of people to share the stay with – a short stay but so full of wonderfulness. Thanks Jo for making it happen! And thanks to all the beautiful souls who were part of the weekend”

“Started my summer vacation right by having a lovely time at Shambala this weekend. Jo and Faith were the best of teachers, encouraging, calming and energising. The surroundings were perfect for letting go of all that lingering tension and stress filling my mind at the moment. Went home feeling calm, happy and motivated to keeping up with my yoga practice. Thank you!”

” I’ve just had the most wonderful yoga retreat with Jo in Sweden. She was really great and improved my practice considerably. I learned much and understood more. She catered very effectively for all levels of practice. It was tremendous fun and I’ve come back relaxed, full of energy and laughter. Thank you.”
